| The answer to your question, Mr Pearce, should please Cllr Grimston who is always interested in counting heads. Visitor numbers at the Museum in January this year were 2572, an increase of 23% over the same month last year. The number of visitors to the Museum in February, which was short month, totalled 4033, an increase of 53% over the same period in 2006. Bearing in mind that the total number of visitors to the Museum in 2005/6 was just short of 30,000, it is evident that we are looking at a massive increase in attendance. This substantial rise in the number of visitors coincided with editions of Brightside where the normal amount of publicity and advertising for the Museum was cut back sharply. Information on forthcoming events and exhibitions provided by the Museum to Brightside was omitted or minimised. |
