| Hi Martine, 1. Our Mayor has to visit places all over Wandsworth. He/She is not just Mayor of Putney. Yes, they could use taxis but I doubt if it would be cheaper. We are lucky to have people willing to give up so much time and effort to being Mayor. And making all those public speeches on so many topics and being "Speaker" at Council Meetings. You try it! 2. Did the local Council subsidize the volunteers in your Garden Centre in Dartmouth? Anyway, you should join the Roehampton Garden Centre run by volunteers including the local allotments. They run a "garden centre" every Saturday on the Dover House Estate and some major events at St Margaret's Church on Putney Park Lane. |
