| The chapels are in our burial grounds/cemeteries and are no longer used for their original purpose. Naturally we would hope to make the artifacts that we retained available for public view where possible (e.g. in our other libraries, if that were to prove feasible) but the chapels look suitable environments for storage. Re the wider proposals, the full outline will be available before the next Environment & Leisure OSC in February. You will appreciate that if we are going to make wide-ranging proposals to retain a first rate service while achieving the necessary savings we need to talk to people who might be directly affected first. Naturally any proposals will need to deliver the savings imposed upon us - our job is to make sure the resources being used (not just in Leisure & Amenities but across the Council piece) serve the best interests of the wider community as well as possible. |
