| The Council is being astonishingly nasty in its plans for the cultural future of the borough. Two committee reports were published today - the upshot is that not only would the museum close but also the West Hill and Alvering libraries once the new Wandsworth Library moved into the Court House. This means the closure of the museum, the eviction of the De Morgan Centre, the disposal of the collections, extreme pressure put upon the existing local studies service at Battersea and a huge redundancy bill (not to mention the loss of BAC). The link to the agenda follows www.wandsworth.gov.uk/moderngov/ieListDocuments.asp?CId=362&MId=2595&Ver=4&J=4 you need to open two papers at items 11 and 12 on the agenda. The press release on the council website contradicts the proposal to dispose of all collections . . . |
