| I did see your earlier message Tony and I did react with interest to Eddie Lister's statement. Malcolm has changed his position - see his last post. The original position was that the Museum had to close to save money. Now he is saying that the plan is proposed for the purpose of adding to and improving the cultural activities in the Borough!!! It would have been very possible to launch the project by saying we need a library in Wandsworth town centre. It is a village which needs its library in the middle of the shopping centre. But the project was not launched on that basis. That is a late bye-product, certainly added after Malcolms first discussion of the issue on this forum. At that time, only three or four weeks ago, Malcolm was not even certain of what might happen to the Museum building when it closed. |
