| Dear Joanna These are very good points. The Wandsworth Museum has suffered from a lack of publicity and you are correct that because not enough people know about it and visit it, this is a good excuse to close it down. Sales of surplus real estate have been used consistently by the WBC to keep council tax down. Many people feel that the financial bind they now find themselves in has been caused in part because our council tax has been kept so low literally "at all costs". We do not want see essential parts of the cultural fabric of the area sacrificed to this aim. Quite simply, enough is enough. A delegation led by the Wandsworth Historical Society and supported by the amenity societies of Putney, Balham, Battersea and Wandsworth itself, will be making a carefully prepared proposal to the council committee which will formally consider the council's own plans tomorrow evening at 7.30pm in the WBC offices. Be there! |
