| Well, can I suggest you read some of Ben Page's stuff on reputation. Page says (http://campaigns.lga.gov.uk/media/14/files/Reputationdeliveringforpeople1.pdf): "These are the core actions that tell people what you [the council] can do and are doing for them... they show your residents what they get for their money: • manage the media effectively to promote and defend the council • publish a regular council magazine or newspaper to inform residents • ensure the council brand is consistently linked to services • good internal communications – make sure staff and members are informed. MORI research up and down the country shows that these are drivers of our reputation." In other words, people like to know what their council is up to and a regular council magazine is a vital tool in doing this. One of the reasons that Wandsworth is in the top three councils in London for overall satisfaction is that Brightside is so effective. This is quite apart from the use of Brightside to prompt public views on a variety of issues, and Brightside was specifically in our manifesto last year (page 12) as a commitment. |
