| It is hard to see how the vision of David Cameron's new caring Conservative party can be squared with a scheme that removes most of the culture from one of its flagship local authorities, but I get the impression that both local and national Conservative politicians are determined to drive this increasingly disastrous plan through, ignoring all public protests and reasonable alternative solutions to the Council's financial challenge. It may be that action at the ballot box is the only answer. It is years away, of course, but unhappy people don't forget. |
