| Depending on the final decision about the Museum it would be interesting to hear views about the preservation of the displays and exhibits from the Putney section of the Museum. These could perhaps find a home in Putney library, if none other were available. The Putney Debates are going to be available online in Putney and the material in the Museum would make the Debates much more accessible. This history of Putney starting with the early river crossing, the watermen and following the arrival of a bridge, the development of commerce in the High Street is interesting as is the development of the farmland and villas following the arrival of the railway. The Debates are of particular educational interest because of the Civil War and increasing suffrage – this would be helpful to the many local schools who constitute the highest number of visitors to the Museum. I would be happy to pass on comments. Cllr Rosemary Torrington |
