| Does the budget illustrate where the £1.2 million for the new library is coming from? Will it be from the sale of the West Hill and Alvering sites? Does the budget allow for the increase in staffing required to run the library at the Courthouse , which will not be on one level and open plan as are, for instance, Putney and Battersea? How do the Conservative councillors of Wandsworth, and Edward Lister, Malcolm Grimston and Maurice Heaster in particular, equate 2007 with the 360th anniversary of the Putney Debates and the 200th anniversary of the Act of Parliament abolishing the Slave Trade (thanks in no small part to William Wilbeforce, who lived in Clapaham, I believe?)with the imminent closure of the Museum? They obviously have absolutely no sense of history, let alone the history of their own borough. |
