| I certainly agree that freezing council tax for 3 years when inflation is running at 2-3% p.a. might look good at election time but does not constitute prudent financial management. But they have done it, they claim the kitty is now empty and they think (or thought) they had found a soft target to help solve a problem of their own making. We must make sure they do not steamroller the closure of this museum through and we must make sure they justify every last penny of the alleged £5mn shortfall - I have doubted the mathematics of that from the very beginning but the number is quoted as if cast in stone without any analysis of how it has been calculated. |
