| The public gallery was filled to overflowing for tonight's meeting of the Council's Cabinet (or Executive Committee) in Room 123 at the town hall. For most people there, the main topic for discussion was Councillor Grimston's proposal to close Wandsworth Museum - as well as all the other cultural facilities he would like to do away with. It was odd, therefore, that Councillor Grimston was not there, to explain and defend his proposal. The Committee agreed his proposal. I was informed at the meeting that Councillor Grimston will be paid his Councillors' allowance (quite a generous sum), despite his non-attendance. It was interesting to see democracy in action. |
