Jonathan, you have in got there before me. Though for the heating emissions the breakdown for NOx sources is shown in figure 12 of the TfL Health action plan that I mentioned as 7% domestic gas 9% non-domestic gas Most of the rest - 12% - is shown as 'NRMM - Construction' (perhaps someone will tell us what NRMM means). The London Assembly produced a report on Heathrow-related pollution in 2012 which flagged up noise pollution as the big concern alongside air pollution arising from the surprising (to me) statistic that "almost two-thirds of the 69 million passengers using Heathrow every year travel by car." Nearly all of the recommended actions were to do with access to Heathrow, rather than the planes themselves. It would be interesting to know more about the extent to which overflying aircraft may contribute to ground-level [chemical] pollution; did the Wandsworth Council-commissioned report on air pollution in Putney of a couple of years ago have anything to say on this? |
