"I think a difference has been made - it is just not big enough considering how bad the situation in Putney was." Perhaps it's time people stopped putting up with the 'we just fix the buses and it'll be OK' line? It isn't just buses, the air pollution maps of London show major pollution on routes such as the M4 and A40 which have virtually no buses but do have a lot of vehicles and a lot of congestion. In Putney terms, a look at the 14 and 85 on the LVF website, for example, reveals most buses on the routes are from 2002 or 2005. Has anyone actually quantified this supposed vehicle upgrading? Try going to https://www.londonvf.co.uk/ and putting in stop 52714, in the middle of Putney High Street. Check the age of the buses and see how many date from 2013 onwards. When I did it there were 19 buses due - 12 from 2002, 1 from 2005, 2 from 2008 and 4 from 2012 (3 being hybrids). That's hardly a revolution in technology, is it? "The closure of the bridge should also inform us on the contributors to the problem" It should indeed. |
