| The Putney Society has raised both issues in the past, and indeed has done so on more than one occasion. We did suggest that the bus stop outside Smiths was moved but the Council has decided against it, preferring the convenience to shoppers, especially the less mobile, over improved traffic flow and lower pollution. Within the Putney Society opinion was in fact divided on whether to support a move. We have also raised the issue of moving the bus depot but TfL and the bus operators are opposed due to a lack of alternative sites away from residential areas (and who would want one in their back yard?). There would also be consequences for the operation of a number of local routes if the depot were elsewhere, so we have been told. |
