I was reading the Westminster Air Quality Action Plan (not officially signed off as yet) where they say, about 45% of their air pollution is from buildings. Westminster may be more built up than Putney however; all of those gas fired boilers are obviously not as environmentally friendly as one may think. George Osborne wants to give fracking companies tax breaks to extract more. Why? It is stupid to think that fossil fuel subsidies are a good idea. Methane burning buses are proposed as replacements for PHS. It will result in some improvement but until we get away from fossil fuels, the problems will continue and thousands will die as a result. The government's half hearted backing of Hydrogen as a transport fuel transpires to be market dependent. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/uk-h2mmobility-potential-for-hydrogen-fuel-cell-electric-vehicles-phase-1-results Implementation is far too slow and will be too late for so many. |
