I agree that it's a move in the right direction but: "cars with diesel engines _could_ soon incur new charges and higher taxes" and "the £10 extra diesel charge in central London could come into force _as early as 2020_" So it could happen, but not for another 6 years (and at least a further 25,000 premature deaths). So as usual with Johnson, it's all about the headlines and a complete lack of urgent action. And no doubt the motor manufacturers will whine that they need more time to implement cleaner vehicles blah blah. |
