Thanks for flagging this up. Not long to consider and comment. I haven't read all of the background information Tim but the front page says:- Should the Mayor decide to proceed, the scheme changes would be introduced as follows; - Penalty charge increase - 29 April 2013 - Closure of the Greener Vehicle Discount to new registrations - 28 June 2013 - Closure of the Electric Vehicle Discount - 28 June 2013 - Closure of the retail payment channel - 28 June 2013 - Introduction of the Ultra Low Emission Discount - 1 July 2013 - Closure of the Greener Vehicle Discount - 26 June 2015 Sounds more like a revenue raising exercise than anything else. As long as the high premium on buying electric cars persists and before there are mainstream fuel cell cars on sale at a reasonable price, I can't see how any significant impact on London's air quality infringement will result. Personally, I would like to see the full list of who is exempt. When Livingston was mayor, I wrote asking for this info (twice) but never received a reply. When government is secretive, it usually means they have something to hide from the general public. |
