This may be over simplistic, but as I understand from reading the various messages: 1) The key measure at the moment is CO2, for which diesel gives much lower emissions which will be part of the reason there are so many diesel vehicles (aside from buses, company car tax is based on CO2 emissions). 2) The reality is more complex, and other measures include PM and NO2, for which diesel is worse than petrol. I think it's all healthy debate, but surely a swift change to hybrid buses would be a much more practical answer than trying to move the bus depot? |
