I gather the Putney High Street real world emissions project for which Wandsworth got a 2011/12 local authority air quality grant from Defra (thick end of £60k) is about to come to the end of its data gathering phase (November to April). Apparently it was planned to extend it for a month to capture more data from the incremental introduction of the ultra-low emission buses (Jan - March 2013). Automatic number plate recognition data is combined with high resolution sensor information and the analysis should present a much better picture of which classes of vehicle are causing the problem and provide information on the effectiveness of the new buses. The project analysis and final report should be out by September. Ealing and the City of London have joined together to do a similar study at sites in their areas and their data (from monitoring done last summer) should be appearing soon. |
