Lucille What I said in an earlier post is still the case, in a nutshell: "we (the Putney Society) have asked a number of times whether the garage could be moved elsewhere, but there does not appear to be another location which would offer anything more than the shifting of the problem to someone else's back yard, and probably cost a lot of money and create even more unnecessary journeys for buses thus raising overall emissions. Or so we keep being told." Nobody would want one in a residential area so it would have to be brownfield somewhere and thus not as convenient for the bus operators. The garage does have a workshop and other facilities which you could not install at Putney Heath. But someone should ask the question on the 24th - maybe the story has changed? |
