| The big green box outside Vodafone is a monitoring station. There are also monitors higher up that building. The monitor in Felsham Rd at the corner with Weimar Rd is to measure background pollution - helps gauge how much is coming from the traffic itself in the High Street. There is a threat to future funding for air quality monitoring in another government 'efficiency' drive. It is crucial that monitoring continues so we know if any of the measures such as cleaner buses are actually working - and there is evidence the new buses are not as clean as they were made out to be. |
