Nick, I understand your current role at Thames Water is to convince the general public that TW are a wonderful bunch of people who, despite the fact that they operate a monopoly service and generate increasingly huge profits from doing so, have our best interests at heart. As you may have gathered, I am cynical about the intentions of any monopoly and in particular those of the water industry. You have avoided the question. Which "statement" from DEFRA are you referring to that raises our rates? If it is just a consultation, what gives TW the right to increase our bills by £52+ a year before any work is started? I did not suggest TREATED water from Mogden be discharged into the proposed pipe. That would be preposterous. It appears that your misinterpretation of plain English and attempt to confuse are the arts you are being paid to practice on disenting voices Nick; or is that too cynical for you? I asked about the capacity %age reduction required (that you have patently avoided answering) so that we can compare directly the estimated cost you have quoted of £15Bn for separating Surface Water from Foul Water and reducing by that %age (at a significantly lower cost than the current proposal), the volume of SW flowing into your treatment works. And please, don't use scare statements about having to dig up all the streets. You know that is not the case. Ever heard of pipe jacking techniques? If the current TW proposals were as "sound" as TW wish them to be portrayed, I would not need "convincing". |
