Perhaps Catherine thinks the wildlife centre is so much better than the peaceful reeded reservoirs that were there before. Did she ever visit them there on a spring or summer day? Anglers sitting quietly among the reeds just relaxing in utter peace. What is there now is so much less; crowded and commercial, buy hey some of us are nature lovers and others see nature as something to be tamed. Those who constantly bang the nimby drum, I am suspicious of them. Why would anyone want to live with a gaping 25 metre hole in the earth and machinery on constantly, when there is no reward of any kind for it. It is taking AWAY from Putney, taking grass and ancient towpath and trees away. To be replaced by permanent hard standing (for the vehicles for TW to inspect etc, together with permanent buildings and a tall fairly wide chimney like structure that houses the vents and the machinery for same. It is surely a form of Putneycide to actually go along with this as anything remotely benign IF! you are a resident. If you're not, and I suspect some who promote the idea are resident elsewhere, then yeah, go on Putney deserves pain as the residents are too up themselves.... |
