| I thought the Hammersmith site was a done deal. When did it get moved over the river??? What a nightmare. In my own opinion as a near resident of the proposed site of Barn Elms, this area has long been vulnerable to proposals because it is on the margins of the boroughs of Wandsworth and Richmond; it is either ignored or latterly, abandoned. No point in Wandsworth trumpeting that it is a leisure area; to me it often feel like an abandoned area as all the interest is diverted up towards Vauxhall and Battersea as the new leisure area. Putney area as a desirable place to live is already under threat from the newly rejuvenated east London. After being lumbered with a project on this scale with the consequent unpleasantness Putney could be regarded as an undesirable place to live. Already it is heavily tenanted - one reason why there has not been a loud outcry already? |
