On Mogden, just wanted to clarify that there is another scheme in hand, quite separate to the Thames Tunnel, designed to address the discharge of untreated sewage from the works after heavy rainfall. This work is well under way and will provide a 50 per cent increase in treatment capacity at the works by March 2013. After this date untreated discharges to the river from Mogden will only be necessary after the most exceptional storms. The challenge for the Thames Tunnel is to address the 34 most polluting combined sewer overflows, as identified by the Environment Agency. Nick Tennant, Communications Manager, Thames Tunnel |
