So the Leaders Gardens alternative to Barn Elms is 'fairer'? There may be well be 2000 people in the adjacent areas to the Barn Elms site but at least it has easy vehicle access from Rocks Lane and will be physically further away from any buildings than would be the case in Leaders Gardens. I would argue that only the people overlooking the site may have any issues and that would probably amount to no more than a hundred or so. To use Leaders Gardens would mean heavy vehicles using either Ashlone Road, Festing Road or the Embankment. I think the idea of heavy trucks mixing with the rowers, boat houses, residential properties, narrow streets and the general public would be far more dangerous and hugely impractical when, in comparison, the Barn Elms access is across open land. The tactic by the developers here is "look how much worse it could be if we used sites B and C. We've been really considerate and found you a 'good' site (A) so think yourself lucky". How about a site next to the Harrods Depository? Or near Sir Richard Rogers' apartment? Funny how those aren't shortlisted sites. We're easy meat. |
