A small taste of the knock on effects traffic can have has been beautifully illustrated while the gas works have been going on in upper richmond road, effectively knocking out local access to west Putney. The consequence has been very heavy traffic along Rocks Lane and Roehampton lane. that is the sort of thing we can expect to happen. What was a 10 min bus journey for me became 40 mins on 265. Most of us cope when an area suffers disruption for 9 months or a year. 7+ years however becomes permanent and would have consequences as yet unseen to local people for instance sticking in a motorway as they wanted to do in the 80s. As to the Vanessa? poster - read the forum before commenting and you will see Putney will still get sewage in the river so no we are not nimbys and I personally love tall buildings and wish London had more of them, but a 30 foot ventilation shaft serviced 24/7 by engineers (forever) is not an attractive proposition. What do people think of Justine Greenings response in her newsletter? No where does she say, as does the Hammersmith MP did, no way Jose! |
