I now understand that Thames Water are proposing 40 single (or 80 round trip) lorry loads of spoil and/or material) from the Barne Elms site (Horne Way meeting) This severely contradicts earlier suggestions of 8 (Barnes meeting) As I suspected from the very beginning, the proposed jetty is a red herring and with the massive opposition Thames Water is getting from River users, Thames Water is being forced to resort road transport. They should be aware that roads through Barnes and Putney are residential and unsuitable for commercial traffic such as this. As the criteria for site selection depends largely on the use of the river for material transport, does this not now rule out Barn Elms as a main shaft site? |
