As the birds are not creating a fuss about it nor signing petitions that is not a problem for the developers. It really is up to us to stop it. I am grateful for Tim highlighting the scale of the project and for suggesting how to attempt to combat the plans. Apart from the birds and ruining what was common land for ever I suspect, the loss of the towpath is absolutely unthinkable. It is a wild lifeline for so many people seeking tranquility. It is the defencelessness of the area that causes outrage. If every runner and walker knew these plans would they not want to be involved in protecting it? Can we not organise resistance, even by ensuring people know of the proposals? I didnt know. |
