It was stated on this thread that during Zac Goldsmith's meeting last week a TW official said it was planned to run an access road across Putney Common past the old hospital to join the Lower Richmond Road without the agreement of the conservators on the grounds of compulsory purchase. It is time to lobby for a complete reevaluation of this badly thought out scheme, which appears to have been rushed through without really thinking about it by the previous government. The cost of this falling to Londoners is unacceptable; you cannot escape water rates and it hits everyone hard just at a time of real financial hardship for many. The idea of lumping drainage and sewage together seems curiously old fashioned and within a few short years could well be seen for what it is; poor use of planning and resources. Justine Greening could certainly call for further investigation into whether this is the best scheme the NEW government can come up with. |
