Thanks Caroline. How can TW say it's "impractical" when that is how the majority of the UK is drained; seperate systems. What they are effectively saying is that they don't want to consider alternatives to their grandiose proposal. Since there is no seperation of foul from rain water, TW end up treating all of it as though it were sewage. There are obvious cost implications including a tunnel with the capacity for both. Isn't the reason TW say they can't manage because of rainfall? Isn't their excuse for discharges to The Thames that they occur during heavy rainfall. It's obvious that TW want to adopt the easiest option for themselves. It would need a large input of skills and planning to bring a change in stategy about. Ultimately, they will not pay for anything. We will; at a premium. |
