This may be of great interest to everyone. Apparently before planning can go through (i.e. main drive shaft) any previous planning permission must be considered!!! And this has gone through. http://www.richmond.gov.uk/home/council_government_and_democracy/council/civic-offices/departments/communications/press_office/press_releases/november_2010_press_releases/go_ahead_for_barn_elms_improvements.htm Release Date: 09/11/2010 Go ahead for Barn Elms improvements Hundreds more people will be able to enjoy football, cricket and tennis at Barn Elms sports ground after planning permission was granted to upgrade the whole site at Thursday night’s planning committee meeting. The decision means the number of pitches from will rise from 13 to 17. Rugby teams and athletes will also benefit from improved facilities. The Council worked closely with the Barn Elms Sports Trust to submit proposals to the committee which would benefit local people who use the area every week. They include a new, larger pavilion, the conversion of dilapidated tennis courts into multi use sports areas for both tennis and netball and the laying of two replacement cricket pitches. The decision to grant planning permission now allows the Council and BEST to begin formally applying for funding, which has already been identified in order to bring the £2.1million project to reality. It is expected £1.9milion of grants would be forthcoming following an application, leaving just 10 per cent of the funding yet to be found. |
