John, I'm sure the gloss and spin put on by Thames Water is very convincing. However, I still want to know why they haven't commissioned artists impression drawings of of the construction works! On the subject of transport of materials and waste - here is a very important point. Hidden away on the TW Thames Tunnel website are the list of consultation documents, one titled, "Site Selection Methodology Paper". Section 2.2.18 states, "...assumption that the majority of materials delivered to and removed from the sites will be transported by river wherever possible" Table 2.2 of the same paper red flags sites UNLESS there is, "Availability of Jetty or Wharf facilities" It is becoming clear that the any wharf construction on this part of the river is unacceptable and indeed impossible without causing severe hazard, danger and obstruction of navigation. As a result, the Barn Elms site does not meet the selection criteria and should be dismissed forthwith. |
