| Thank you for bringing this to our attention, Nick. I think the act does need to be revised, not primarily to allow the benches but actually to protect the commons. How does point 36 tally with the annual funfair - a point Caroline made and which John has not answered. If the argument is that a fair predates the the act an obvious response is that fairs in the nineteenth century did not have large lorries and other motorised vehicles which are surely damaging to the turf, gorse etc and certainly encroach upon the commons. |
