| Cameron's Q & A for the hustings he didn't deign to turn up for were a complete lie. He was against the benches after all. No surprise; he's been on about them for years. You have to laugh - many of the support comments on the planning site probably result from his posting here! It should be no surprise - there have been several public airings of this issue before and each time the public support for the benches has been overwhelming. What we face here is a conflict between those with swanky houses near the common who want this green space for their private enjoyment and the rest of us who want them as a public amenity. Cameron and his curious small band of expatriate, non-levy-paying and strangely affected followers are a modern day Lord Spencer who for some reason want to use their reading of an obscure 19th century act of parliament to oppose democritisation of this public resource except for their cricket club. More worryingly, despite his expulsion as a trustee, he seems to have renewed vigour in his continued campaign to use his restrictive interpretations of law and planning procedures to delay and frustrate anything different from his own preferences. How much will it continue to cost us? What is the next legal action planned? Will there be any return on all the expense and diversion of attention so far? When will it stop? Why do we have to continue to fund this man's and his co-conspiracy theorists's hobby? The usual fan club - a very exclusive club - will no doubt disagree. A total disgrace. |
