| @ Craig The commons are not run by popularity, they are run by trustees who have a LEGAL responsibility to uphold and respect the 1871 Act. The trustees are not doing so, as the Act does not allow for the Spencer's land grab of common land for commercial purposes. So no matter how 'popular' or 'unpopular' the benches are, it is franky irrelevant The new Chair Diane Neil Mills is similarly confused in her letter of support to Wandsworth. Neil Mills states how popular the benches are. Neil Mills does not comment on the law or the trustee misconduct in ignoring the Act. ' I suspect that Neil Mills hasn't bothered to fully understand what her legal duty is, in terms of adhering to the law governing the commons. This is a mirror image of the sort of behaviour of the board which undersold the access at the school and lost £1.5m for the charity. It is, misconduct by the current and former board. The WPCC's reputation won't start to improve until the trustee start to respect the Act, rather than taking the high handed approach that they can simply ignore it and not be challenged. It is a question of law, not who has the most backing. |
