'The greatest number of people on benefits are actually pensioners!!!'

I am one of them.

I was lucky enough to work for a company that offered a final salary pension and when they stopped that people then had the opportunity to contribute directly themselves to a similar scheme.

As for the state pension, I consider I paid my way regarding that scheme with decades of payment through NI and higher rate income tax.

I wonder how many and how much the recipients of other benefits have paid ?

How many even were born in this country ?

Guess I was lucky to have been born at the right time, but I don't feel guilty.

In today's changed circumstances people have to look to finance their own future by cutting down on unnecessary expenditure and saving more.

Or by undertaking skills training and other education and getting 'a better job'.

The more you look after yourself the better off you will be.
