| Sue, bit of wishful thinking there! It’s a huge mess of his own making, for sure, but he will probably ride this out. Labour MPs can’t agree on a successor so they’ll let him stay, for now. All the noise from the opposition will remain just that, noise. My feeling is that once he’d announced it, the vetting outcome was suppressed within the FO so he could get his way. To have announced that he’d failed the vetting after Starmer had told the world he had chosen Mandelson was too awful to contemplate. It would have … embarrassed the boss. Anyway, we will know more in the next few days. PS. Angela Rayner would be a disaster as PM. It’s possible we all agree on that! |
