£100,000K is not a significant sum in the scheme of things but remember there was the closure of two Wandsworth libraries in recent years. The council's measure of library usage is laughable. I'm typing this in Roehampton library where about 15 people are using the internet, 4 or 5 people using the reference section and a couple of parents with children are using the lending section. They are basing their decisions of library closures on numbers of books borrowed. Which highly paid executive dreamt up up that criteria? The proposed government policy of no pay exceeding x20 the lowest paid is just not good enough. Which area of local government is structured in a way that could justify x10? |
