| Suzanne I doubt whether we want to get too much into this but I do NOT accept this private/public split. As you say the public sector could not exist except ...... BUT equally in no modern sense of the world can the private sector exist without the public sector building roads, educating people, organising our society, etc., etc. How do you think the private sector manages where the public sector is a shambles? Give me some examples like Chechyna, Yemen, Afghanistan, etc. Actually the vast majority of public sector workers retire on pensions that are very small indeed and I think Jones's is no more defensible than many a senior banker's. But you tell me why it is that the Tories on the Council have been pumping up salaries, bonuses and pensions and I have been voting against them (and not winning Council elections, the Tories would add) for years - I would like to know |
