| Wandsworth Council may boast about having the lowest Council Tax (and one of the highest reserves in the bank) however, that does not mean that the services are fairly distributed. I have persistently had to shame them into providing the same standard of service in my street as the members of the Cabinet have in their streets, including producing a presentation comparing our area and theirs. It's a pity we can't all live on main roads so that passersby can see exactly where Wandsworth cut corners. To put the Council Executive salaries into context, York Gardens Library, serving an area of considerable deprivation is proposed for closure to save a measly £100,000. I suppose this is because it is in an area of Battersea where the Council think people won't complain! |
