Mr Rose You have my total support and full marks to you in your defence of Israel against attacks from the actual Hamas Islamist terrorists and their keyboard-bound fellow travellers. 1) 'The only difference between Britain in the Second World War and Israel now is that the Nazis did not threaten to exterminate the entire British population, whereas Hamas' stated aim is to kill every last Jew'. Absolutely true. Doubters should read the Hamas Charter. 2) 'During the war did anyone in Britain claim that Nazism is an idea which cannot be eliminated by force of arms, or that by pursuing the war Britain was alienating the German population, or express outrage that German civilians were dying as a result of bombing raids on military and industrial targets'? No; of course they did not. When one's country and its civilisation is threatened with annihilation the only concern is to destroy the enemy. 3)'Yet these arguments are deployed against Israel. Why is that?' I sure that this does not apply to Mr Carter but the answer to your question is that in the main the proponents of such arguments are antisemites. Or at least that wider group of 'anti-racists' that see the Israelis as 'white' and Palestinians as 'non-white' and hence perpetual victims of 'white oppression'. Overall those that subscribe to the identity based view of society where people are judged on skin colour as not as individuals with free will and their own unique opinions. |
