There are strict guidelines for who and who cannot be Trustees of a Charity. Some people cannot be Trustees as the are disqualified by law, ie unspent convictions for dishonesty or bankruptcy. I wouldn't be surprised if being in a formal dispute (in law or through the CC) fell foul of becoming a Trustee, as you would be, in effect, in dispute with yourself. Or could unduly influence the outcome of the dispute and so on. Equally, Trustees have an absolute onus to self report the Charity to the CC when they have breached the rules. No doubt the Conservators are pondering this as I type. |
