Caroline Whithehead: if you had read John's previous posts you would have seen that the answer to you question is something he has covered many times before: if the council had been prepared to accept a smaller development on the site, road access would have been confined to that part of the site that the council actually owns, rather than cramming a huge block of flats and school onto to the site, which forced the road access outside the confines of what it owns and onto the common. In other words, a smaller development would not have required the same encroachment onto hitherto untouched parts of the common. This was the case with the previous (smaller) proposal to use the site as a medical centre and flats. www.friendsofputneycommon.org |
