| If Mr Horrocks checks he will see that a cyclists' diversionary route has been clearly signed: right into Woodlands Way, across the bridge, left into Disraeli Road, across Oxford Road, onwards to Putney High Street and left (remembering to dismount) towards the Upper Richmond Road. It adds no more than 100 metres to the journey. Alternatively what is wrong with cyclists dismounting and pushing thie bicycles the length of the road works? I have recently noted an increasing number of cyclists doing just this. Mr Horrocks seems careless to the dangers caused by cyclists to pedestrians walking lawfully along the narrow pavements on the southside of the Upper Richmond Road necessarilly made all the narrower by the roadworks. I shall continue to press the Police to take positive action against cyclists using this stretch of the pavement. They have two lawful options, to dismount and walk or to take the clearly marked diversion. Cllr Leslie McDonnell East Putney Ward |
