| Sounds as though the already severe congestion in Wandsworth will increase since the two lanes up West Hill will have to reduce to one. I imagine Lower Richmond Road, Southfields generally, the A3 Kingston Road, Putney Heath, and Roehampton will all suffer too as many drivers will choose to avoid the combined South Circular and Putney Hill traffic. It is probably too late to change now but I do wonder if 16 hour (double shift) or 24 hour working has been requested by TfL to minimise the effects or if this was driven by the gas company selecting the cheapest quote (normal working hours). The unavoidable and noisiest work of breaking out the road for trenches could easily be restricted to day time working. I also wonder if the other utility companies such as Thames Water have been co-ordinated to carry out any water mains replacements at the same time? Perhaps Richard Tracey would comment. |
