| Some good news from the latest Mayor's Question Time about cyclists trying their own uncoordinated attempts at westbound bypassing of the roadworks . It seems TfL are trying to sort this out with some official measures. See Q&A in full below: Question No: 2696 / 2009 Jenny Jones Will you congratulate the people responsible for applying Department for Transport guidance on cyclists and road works, with the introduction of a temporary Mayoral cycle path on Tooley Street? Have there been any other examples of this guidance being applied in London during the last few years and will you tell Transport for London to universally apply as an interim measures, whilst drawing up their own version? Answer from the Mayor: Thank you for your feedback, which TfL has noted. When assessing proposals for highway works, TfL considers cyclists’ needs very carefully and as a matter of course. TfL requests changes to works proposals where these would add benefit to users. Recent examples relate to utility works, for example, TfL is requesting that Southern Gas Networks provide a separated and shorter diversion route for cyclists at their gas works on Upper Richmond Road, once emergency works to repair a sewer connection by Keswick Road have been completed. |
