Rosemary suggested in a posting above: "...so the more people in the immediate vicinity of the threatended PO, including businesses, who sign the better." and I would like to suggest that the word "threatened" should have the widest possible interpretation as, living near the PO in the Upper Richmond Road, the users there are going to feel even more threatened by the influx of additional customers! That aside, it occurs to me that the Post Office has a monopoly of much of the business it transacts. This is an unconventional approach, but is there any room for a referral to the Monopolies Commission? That Commission invariably deals with very different situations, namely organisations seeking to maximise profits, and here the Post Office is seeking to minimise losses. Do the Commission's terms of reference allow it to act in this 'negative' way? |
