Justine Greening MP has been extremely active on the subject of post office closures for some while, indeed there is an entry from her on a separate thread. She met with the Post Office management as soon as she heard rumours of closures, has visited both offices scheduled for closure, has circulated a leaflet throughout Thamesfield ward reiterating her anger at the closures and will be speaking at a public meeting to be held at 7.30pm on Thursday 13th March at St Mary's Church, Putney Bridge. As a Wandsworth councillor I and all my Conservative colleagues share in Justine's horror at the uncaring attitude of the post office management and for the cavalier way in which they are pressing ahead with these closures (not just in Putney but elsewhere in the borough), and with the seeming ineptitude and impotency of the Brown-'led' Labour government for the way in which it is doing nothing to stop them despite the patent lack of meaningful consultation. Feel free to e-mail Justine at greeningj@parliament.uk to make your feelings known to her, or register your objections direct by e-mailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk. Cllr Leslie McDonnell |
